Techtonic is a division of Jonathan’s Landing Foundation, a social enterprise dedicated to powering better futures by creating training and career pathways for adults with autism and other neurodiversities in Florida and beyond.
We partnered with Techtonic Academy to create a mobile repair training curriculum with two goals :
First, bring 9 beautifully designed characters to life to add personality and engagement throughout the course. And second, create an animated video to explain the history and scientific principles behind cellular networks and phone repair to set a strong foundation for the lessons that followed.
We began by studying each character in depth, exploring how they should move and react to celebrate and engage students throughout the course.
Our goal was to bring their personalities to life clearly and authentically, in a way that felt natural and genuine.
History & Science behind Mobile Devices
While working on the character animation, we also spent time researching to fully understand the topic and figure out the best way to simplify it for the video.
We started by creating STB thumbnails to map the flow and visualize the concepts, which helped us figure out how to translate complex ideas into something simple, approachable, and easy for neurodivergent learners to grasp.
The art direction and motion were shaped by Techtonic’s existing visual DNA. We focused on making sure everything felt like a natural part of the course - from the characters and devices to the color palette, tone, and overall vibe.
The music was chosen to feel comforting yet slightly digital, adding personality without distracting. Subtle sound design and SFX helped bring the video together and elevate the overall experience.
